An introduction to Hydrogen Powered Vehicles Hydrogen is the simplest and most abundant element in the universe. It is the fuel that is burned inside every one of the billions of the stars in the universe, and it is an excellent carrier of energy. Two ways of using hydrogen as a vehicle fuel are currently being investigated:
Alternative Fuels 4 Units / Prerequisite: AUTO 101, AUTO 120 This is an introductory course on alternative fuels as they pertain to use in modern motor vehicles. Various alternative fuels will be compared, such as Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), Hydrogen, etc. The theory of operation, system components, and the safe handling of these fuels are included. Students will develop skills in the area of vehicle preparation, system conversion, and repair procedures related to vehicles using alternative fuels. Lecture / Demonstration: 3 hours / Lab: 3 hours
