Hydrogen Technology

An introduction to Hydrogen Powered Vehicles Hydrogen is the simplest and most abundant element in the universe. It is the fuel that is burned inside every one of the billions of the stars in the universe, and it is an excellent carrier of energy. Two ways of using hydrogen as a vehicle fuel are currently being investigated:

  1. The first is to use it like gasoline or CNG in a ICE (internal combustion engine).
  2. The second is to use it as a source of protons and electrons to power a fuel cell. As an incorporated part of the course this technology is introduced.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

AUTO 140

Alternative Fuels 4 Units / Prerequisite: AUTO 101, AUTO 120 This is an introductory course on alternative fuels as they pertain to use in modern motor vehicles.
